Mo Salah Champions League Record Could Win The Title For Liverpool

Liverpool have shown over the years that they could do decent deals and get value for it. In fact, they got premium value for Salah when he joined from Roma last summer for just £32m. It is phenomenal to think a player that was loaned out by Chelsea few seasons ago will be the closest to unsettling the duopoly of Messi-Ronaldo in world football. This is unthinkable. Now, Mo Salah has been in the form of his life and ready to face any defense in world football.

Liverpool were in a relatively comfortable champions league group and this helped them improve as the game keeps coming and their errors were not punished well enough. But along the line, Salah was banging the goals and getting the needed assists to put his team in front in games all through the season especially in the champions league.

From a relatively slow start to the campaign, he picked himself up and started getting the needed goals to put Liverpool up front. His 31 league goals cannot go unmentioned because it’s this form that transcend into the champions league. For a player to have scored 31 goals in the league which is equaling the records of Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers, 1995/96), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, 2007/08) and Luis Suárez (Liverpool, 2013/14) shows how great he has been. Doing it in his first season at the club, a feat the other three didn’t achieve just help emphasised his greatness.

Going into the champions league this season will show us how magnificent he has been. 11 goals in 13 champions league appearance is a stat that always goes to the likes of Ronaldo and Messi. He became the second Liverpool player to have scored in five consecutive champions league game after Steven Gerrard in 2007/08. Salah is proving to many that he is not just an ordinary player but one that has to be mentioned in the realm of the best. His total rally of 43 goals so far has shown us that he has the capacity to still do more this season and beyond.

At 25 years of age, the Eyptian is prime to still do great things for himself, club and country. With Liverpool set for their first champions league final in 10 years, Salah has been the outstanding player for the club. Many won’t mind placing a bet on Salahs remarkable exploit having suggested that he could be the next Ballon d’Or winner if he help Liverpool secure the trophy. It will not surprise many if this happens. The bookmakers are also backing him to go on and win the Ballon d’Or ahead of Messi and he’s joint favorite with Ronaldo.

What Salah has done this season is beyond football as he has brought hope to many fans across the globe. He’s a symbol for his country and club. Idolized in his home country after helping them qualify for the world cup and now getting his club to the champions league final.
