The Bhoys will be playing against Dundee tonight, this game will mark the 200th Craig Gordon’s 200th appearance as Celtics goal keeper. Craig Gordon recently returned from the side lines after been placed there through a terrible knee injury since the end of January.
Craig Gordon born 31 Dec 1982, has had his up and downs through his goal keeping days, and the Scottish goalkeeper intends to make his 200th appearance even more memorable with his 100th clean sheet for his club.
Craig Gordon suffered injuries while playing for Sunderland which caused his contract to end 2012 and left him out of professional football for two years. At July 2014, he got signed into Celtic.
Gordon’s first appearance was made on the 19 of July in a pre-season friendly against Dynamo Dresden where he made a lot of saves in his 45mins, Craig Gordon said “It was good to get back playing. From a personal point of view, it’s been a long time out. So it was good to get out there and to play for 45 minutes and get a clean sheet in the first half. I have to be happy with that.” He has since then won 4 Scottish league title, 3 Scottish league Cup, 1 Scottish Cup and a domestic unbeaten treble with the Celts.
After Craig Gordon’s remarkable performances at Celtic, the national team called Craig back to play regardless dropping him due to several injuries. In 2006 and 2015 Gordon won the Footballer of the Year Award among many others. Due to several great achievements and results delivered Craig Gordon was given the number 1 shirt to replace the 26 shirt he was originally signed in with at the 2015/16 season. At this period Craig Gordon signed a new deal to continue with the team till 2018 before another extension he recently sign which furthers his stay at Celtic till 2020.
Celtic winning tonight would give an even stronger point on the table as the Bhoys would be leading with 15 points and would be closer to sealing a 7th successive title.
