The transfer section for the former Dundee defender took longer than expected as it looked like the deal wasn’t going to reach a visible end but finally it did. Jack Hendry’s move to Celtic had been in talks throughout the January transfer window and got closer to closing even as the transfer window was closing.
Finally Dundee and Celtic reached an agreement luckily for Jack Hendry and sealed a deal. The new Hoop signed a 4.5(for and a half) year contract with the Scottish Champions.
Jack Hendry, filled with joy didn’t give in to the stress and tiredness if the day but felt over whelmed with joy to be part of the Bhoys and the Paradise family.
“It feels brilliant,” he told Celtic TV. “It was a very long day but to finally get it done is great. It’s hard to describe the feeling. To be part of this football club is a very proud moment for me.
“I’m very relieved that the deal was finally agreed. It was out there for quite a while, so for it to go down to the last day, it was a bit nervous, but I’m really excited to be here now and I can’t wait to get going.
“I just want to get started and that’s what I’m totally focused on. It’s a bit surreal, although I’ve had a bit of time to think about it, and I just to get to know my team-mates and start playing football.
“The manager’s just seen a lot in me. He’s recognised what I’m good at and what I can bring to the squad, and hopefully I can repay that faith he’s shown in me. I really appreciate it and I’m looking forward to it.
“I feel that I thrive in this kind of environment. I like playing in big games and in big arenas and you don’t get much bigger than Celtic Park, so I feel that it fits me down to a T and that’s why I was so keen to come to this football club – for the surroundings and the history. There’s no better fit for me.
“I always want to keep on learning and keep on improving and with the coaching staff and the players here, I feel that I’ll come on leaps and bounds here and that’s a big incentive for me to come here. I’m still young so I’ve got a lot to learn and improve on, but this deal gives me the time to do that and really kick on.”
