By Adeyemi Olaore on October 31, 2017

With a wonderful victory this evening at the Old Trafford with Manchester united beating Benfica 2-0 the premier league team is confident of moving on to the round of 16 knock out stage of the champions league.

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku got an honest chance twice but couldn’t just find the post at the end of it.

Manchester United finally had their chance on scoring again at the stroke of half-time and Nemanja Matic did not wait to try a shot as he tried it from a long-range hitting the  back off the post and an unfortunate rebound off Mile Svilar in to the post for 1-0 in the 45th minute of the first half.

Mourinho’s side had a chance to increase their lead just minutes later when Lukaku was given another fine and clean chance to score but just to see his attempt on goal well saved so the first half ended and 1-0 was the score at the break.

However, there was a loose ball, a mistake from Baily with Benfica and Benfica almost grabbed an equalizer in the second 45 minutes but they hit the post.

However, Marcus Rash ford was fouled in the area.

Then after, Manchester’s Daley Blind took the responsibility to take the penalty and scored to make it a 2-0 lead in the 76th minute of the second half.

Manchester United did their best to hold on through the game and they secured their fourth consecutive victory and move on to 12 points in the champions’ league group stage.

Therefore, it would have to take 2 consecutive strong group stage defeats in their remaining group stage matches to stop Mourinho’s men from climbing on to the round of sixteen knockout stages of the champions league.
